The history of Egypt is covered in mystery. Ancient Egypt had a great variety of gods, some of them depicted just as symbols and others having the form of living creatures. In 2012, the Republic of Fiji lauched a new Golden and Colorful Egypt series of .999 pure silver coins with 24-carat gilding to celebrate the ancient land that encompasses more than 6,000 years of history and culture. There were only 999 coins of this kind minted, which is extremely few for such a masterpiece.
Traditionally, the obverse of the coin by Fiji bears the effigy of Her Majesty Elizabeth II. The portrait is surrounded by the following inscriptions: the Queen's name, the face value of the coin, its issuing country and year. Each coin of the series has its unique number struck on its edge.
The rich reverse design with 24-carat gilding is what will amaze you at first sight. It depicts Osiris, one of the most important gods of ancient Egypt, with his son Horus on the left and his wife Isis on the right. In Egyptian mythology, Osiris was both a god of fertility and the embodiment of the dead and resurrected king. He was not only the ruler of the dead but also the power that granted all life from the underworld. The reverse also includes the issuing country written in four languages: German, English, Spanish and French. Numerous wall paintings in the background and shiny hieroglyphics placed around the main scene – all this makes the coin a unique work of art that will adorn any modern coin collection.
